Since there are no municipal enforcement services in unorganized districts, the OPP is the relevant authority for noise and peace related complaints.

Steps to address complaint

  1. Attempt to speak with the owner: if possible and safe, try speaking with the owner first.

  2. Document the nuisance. Keep a log of the dates, times and duration of the nuisance.

  3. Contact the OPP non emergency phone line: 1-888-310-1122

  4. For animal abuse or neglect: if you believe the animal is in distress, being abused or neglected (lacks proper care, water, food, or shelter) contact the Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) at 1-833-9-ANIMAL(26-4625.
